Grand Master David A. Hebler is a 10th degree black belt as bestowed by the Original American Kenpo Karate Association and holds the distinction of being the second most senior active American Kenpo stylist in the world. Serving as one of Elvis Presley’s personal bodyguards from 1972-76, he has since traveled the world as a speaker and martial arts instructor, giving lectures, seminars and workshops on self-defense, particularly as it pertains to women, as well as writing or co-writing several books, including the recently published, MAKING IT OUT ALIVE: Protecting Women & Children From Violence, the upcoming HOW TO SURVIVE ENCOUNTERS OF THE WORST KIND and the 1977 tome, “ELVIS, WHAT HAPPENED?” the best-selling original non-fiction paperback in the history of publishing at that time. With early careers as an Air Force intelligence officer and test engineer before entering the martial arts arena full-time, Hebler is widely regarded as an articulate and insightful commentator on a wide variety of self-defense issues for men, women and children. In addition, he will occasionally tie in to Elvis Presley-related stories from time to time. Hebler is the proud father of two grown daughters, Lorie and Kristie. |
