"It is not the thousand moves you know that will bring you success, it is the one move you have practiced a thousand times. (chinese proverb)
It is important that we set an expectation for each woman that visits this site and how to best use the information provided here. We understand that each person has a different way of learning information, and we have diligently worked to accommodate those differences.
This site is the first of its kind. This is the first time that women will have a place to go where they chose the environment that they learn best in. The class times - whenever you want them to be - 24/7. However, those of us who built this, we received one common question: "Wouldn't it be better to have this training hands-on?" Absolutely! We asked the next question: "Have you ever looked for a place to learn this type of information?" Almost every person answered "NO." Well, now you have it!
So with that being said - The primary components of this site are the written articles and the self -defense lessons. The articles address a variety of topics and contain a wealth of information. We suggest that each women read as many of the articles as possible. The video self-defense lessons - go through them, try them and pick a few that are easy for you. Even if the entire lesson is something that doesn't appeal to you, try to learn some of the individual moves and understand the "Weapons" and "Targets" of the technique.
Here are our recommendations for how to use the information on this site:
- Practice...Practice...Practice! Take it one move at a time and get comfortable with it. Don't get discouraged. This is not easy. If it were, everyone would know it. We are here to help you every step of the way.
- Go through lessons one at a time. Do not overwhelm yourself with information. You are not going to master this in a day - BE PATIENT!
- Read the articles - "From the Experts" - There is a wealth of information here.
- Learn what "Targets" are. When you learn where an attacker is vulnerable, you have a far better chance of getting out of the situation.
- Learn what "Weapons" are. These are at your control. When you learn how to match up "Weapons" to "Targets" and you will find yourself with choices and having the ability to create the opportunity to escape.
- If possible, find a practice partner. NEVER practice the moves with full contact - what you learn here DOES WORK! Practice with a partner in slow motion. The most important thing to learn is you don't have to be fast - you do need to ACCURATE!
